Offshore Cabling

Recently the German Tagesspiegel stated that the differences between onshore and offshore wind farm projects in terms of daringness, logistics, law, geo sciences and financing requirements are similar to the differences between the construction of a commuter railway tunnel and the crossing of the Gotthard massif.

One key element in the development and maintenance of offshore wind farms – sometimes neglected – is cable layout. Though cabling costs make only 7% to 10% of the whole development investment, submarine cable repair accounts for over 70% of all insurance claims on installed wind parks. This clearly shows how much money can be saved by planning and conducting the cabling process accordingly.

Innovative cable technology for offshore wind projects

IQPC is dedicating its Offshore Cabling conference to discuss the following issues.

  • Submarine power cables: Hear how to reduce impact of some bottle necks
  • Learn about regulatory framework conditions for planning and permitting procedures to ensure legal approval
  • Assess offshore cabling risks and hear best practice for approaching insurers
  • Discuss joint industry effort to develop a guidance document for offshore wind farm power cabling to overcome deficiencies
  • Get an overview of the Carbon Trust cable installation study and evaluate new technologies and options for cost reduction

Hear the latest cabling strategies from institutes and companies such as:
